Following two years of research and development and extensive collaboration with industry leaders and sister colleges in the North Carolina system, Farhad Javidi has developed the first AAS degree program in "Simulation and Game Development" in nation. The Program was approved by North Carolina Community College System on October 24, 2005.

The Irrlicht Engine

A high performance open source and cross platform 3D engine for creating realtime 3D applications. Its main targets are to be easy to use, extremely fast, extensible and crash safe. Download it and play with it.

The engine is a quite flexible graphics engine, and it is possible to write lots of different applications with it. Some are: complex 3D simulation applications, first and third person shooter games with indoor and/or outdoor scenes, real time strategy games, 2D games, ...

PS3 - $900

Will the PS3 be the most expensive console ever made? Merrill Lynch estimates it will cost Sony almost $900 per unit. Furthermore, ML believes that a delay to the Spring 2006 launch is now very likely and that the console may not hit U.S. retail until early 2007.

Teach the teachers - video games

WILMINGTON, North Carolina (AP) -- When the principal of Blair Elementary School needed someone to instruct teachers in the use of PlayStations, she turned to the experts -- the students.
The school purchased 23 PlayStations last month to use with educational games for third- through fifth-graders.
But not all the teachers took to the video games -- one became so flustered that she didn't want use them in class, principal Sharon Sand said.
